Project Overview
Kaiju Kid is a collaborative shortfilm I CO-DIRECTED as part of my final-year graduation project at ARTFX, an internationally recognised school for visual effects and animation.
Created in collaboration with a small team, it reflects our shared focus on storytelling, design, and technical challenge. The school later highlighted it as one of the main projects from our 2022 class.
During our graduation short film, I wore several hats, but my primary focus was compositing and technical workflow optimization.
As the lead Digital Compositor, I was responsible for delivering the final look across all shots in the film. I handled the compositing of every scene using Nuke, ensuring consistency, visual clarity, and seamless integration of CG and live-action elements.
Alongside compositing, I took on the role of Nuke Pipeline TD and was involved in R&D, where I developed and set up our 2D pipeline and Nuke interface using Python to optimize team efficiency. This included coding and crafting specific custom tools and nodes with Blinkscript, which reduce superfluous cache generation and streamlined our shot processing later on.
Earlier in pre-production, I collaborated closely with the Director and the Cinematography team to propose feasible VFX solutions and help shape shot design with post-production in mind. This early involvement helped minimize rework during the comp phase.

✓ Perform shot clean-up, matte extractions, and relighting.
✓ Design and deliver final compositing, ensuring color balance and shot continuity.

✓ Work closely with departments such as lighting, environment, FX and animation.
✓ Maintain visual consistency across the film through cross-departmental collaboration.
SOFTWARES USED
He particularly stood out as the sole compositor of his graduation shortfilm, Kaiju Kid, a project that required a high degree of visual complexity. Sasha independently managed the entire compositing pipeline, delivering seamless results.
