My goal for this project was simply to sandbox as much as possible to test and learn as many new things as possible in a short period of time, and towards the end to gather several ideas to develop a coherent set of elements in a shot that makes sense and has a story-telling.

Everything down was done from scratch in +- 7 days (1 day a week dedicated to the project plus additional time taken from my free time to complete the project without any hitch). The challenge was to match CGI and DMP with an original plate. It's a very interesting challenge that we often meet in any VFX studio. But the idea of the project was not to focus on a single aspect, but to brush a whole range of skills (the sandbox and testing phase took more than half of the total time).

In conclusion, a project which, even if with more time would have been much more clean and complete, allowed me to learn and test (and screw up) a lot of things in a short time. A great experience then, and a real pleasure to receive complete argued feedbacks from experienced professionals!

LAUNCHPAD INTERNSHIP 2022

My personal project
at Framestore

This is what brings us all together in this beautiful profession, and so here is the personal project I did during this internship at Framestore as a Compositor Artist.

September 2022 marked the end of my internship with Framestore’s Compositing team — and what an enriching, rewarding experience it was. I met so many amazing people who taught me so much in such a short space of time. I stepped out of my comfort zone, tackled new challenges, and made lasting friendships.

I entered the program with little knowledge of the VFX industry and got the chance to discover its magic through the eyes of truly passionate and talented artists. But the real magic of Framestore lies in its people. It’s hard to describe what it’s like to spend time in that office — sharing a moment in the lift with someone you’ve never met but instantly feel a connection with, or having even the most senior team members take a genuine interest in who you are. I felt a true sense of family and connection — a shared curiosity and passion that drives this creative engine.

That Launchpad Internship experience had a big impact on me — not just in shaping my final year at ArtFX — but also in paving the way for where I am today: now working professionally at Framestore London, alongside many of the same people who first inspired me.

Sasha was a pleasure to work with, very joyful and with good communication skills for someone's that is that young in the industry, he was not afraid of asking questions and details on the tasks he was assigned to. That helped him in learning quickly and effectively how to navigate through the pipeline, and adapt to how things were done at Framestore compositing's department. That quickly made me (and the whole team) consider Sasha no longer as an intern, but as an useful colleague and artist we could rely on safely.
