Festival Relevance

The Nikon Film Festival is internationally recognised and draws entries from a wide creative community.

My participation reflects Original creative initiative and the Ability to deliver high-standard visuals under independent conditions.

A large portion of the visual effects work involved seamlessly stitching together plates shot at different frame rates: one featuring the main character at 23.976 fps, and two others captured in slow motion at 120 fps. Due to space constraints in the grocery store location, no green screen could be used—making precise rotoscoping essential. This was achieved using tools like Runway ML or Nuke’s Copycat, depending on the shot requirements.

Additional VFX work included background clean-up, muzzle flashes, blood squibs on the main character during impact moments, and screen replacements such as adjusting the time displayed.

I was responsible for:

Integrating visual effects with shots splitting for time remapping and incorporating digital assets (blood stains, muzzle flashes, fires sparks) into the live-footage.

Enhancing narrative moments through color correction, cleanup, and visual continuity.

Final compositing and export for festival submission.
